Uzbekistan becomes biggest importer of Russian sugar
AKIPRESS.COM – Uzbekistan has become the biggest importer of Russian sugar after purchase of 165,000 tons in January-May in 2020, reports the portal Russia’s Exporters.
Azerbaijan imported 99,000 tons of sugar and takes the 2nd place. Kazakhstan is on the 3rd place with 96,000 tons. Tajikistan imported 63,000 tons of Russian sugar and Turkmenistan imported 39,000 tons.
Export of Russian sugar in January-May 2020 grew 13 times (up to 619,000 tons) in physical volume and 10 times in value ($245 million) compared to 2019.
Russian sugar was exported to 40 countries in 2020, including Madagascar, Ghana, Afghanistan and Norway.
