Canada to provide CDN$250,000 to Uzbekistan for COVID-19 fight
AKIPRESS.COM – Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov had a phone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada François-Philippe Champagne on June 4.
The Ministers discussed current bilateral cooperation and its prospects, as well as cooperation in the framework of international organizations, the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan said.
The current COVID-19 situation was considered among other aspects.
The Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs said the government of Canada allocates 250,000 Canadian dollars to support the efforts of Uzbek authorities in containment of COVID-19.
François-Philippe Champagne noted a role of Uzbekistan in Central Asia and expressed readiness to provide all possible support to implementation of the initiatives of Uzbekistan on international arena.
The Foreign Ministers also discussed the situation in Afghanistan, emphasizing importance of normalization of life in that country, its participation in commercial, economic and infrastructure processes in Central Asia.
